User Decision and the Paradox of Choice in WWW
Smolík, Jakub ; Malačka, Ondřej (referee) ; Samek, Jan (advisor)
This Bachelor thesis deals with the theory of decision making of web users. Therefore, it analyzes theories of phenomena such as the paradox of choice with closer focus on the concept of usability in applications. Based on previous theories, the work describes the selection, revision and testing of specific web application in context with term of the usability. The thesis also analyzes the methodology, procedures, measurement results and conclusions of testing. As a result, there were made few general recommendations for designers of internet applications that can help in the process of designing more usable systems.
Utility function in the decision-making process
MARÝŠKA, Patrik
This diploma thesis deals with the process of creating an application with appropriate alghoritms and mechanisms for constructing utility function for money for a given decision maker. Related theoretical topics from the decision theory, utility theory and especially the process of construction of the utility function for money are explained. Application randomly generates questions in given intervals for the decision maker. After the process of the generating question is finished, alghorithm for finding optimal starting values is applied. This alghoritm gradually compares SSE in the calculated interval. Nonlinear regression is used to fit the data gathered in previous steps. The graph of the found utility function is drawn and found parameters of the utility function are displayed together with the corresponding data. The paper goes on to evaluate the functionality of the application by solving model examples (St.Petersburg paradox, Powerball lottery and Cube lottery) for two different decision makers. These decision makers used designed application for constructing their utility functions for money. These two utility functions are utilized for calculating certainty equivalents for both decision makers and the results are compared. Application is implemented in Python and PyQt5.
Deciding on the optimal financial contribution of the regions for Medical Rescue Services operations
Stibalová, Alice ; Houšková Beránková, Martina (advisor) ; Roman, Roman (referee)
The principal goal of this thesis is the effort to create a decision model whereby the responsible Emergency Medical Service workers could set the amount of the required operating contribution. The operating contribution from the founder of the contributory organization is a very important item in creating the financial budget of the contributory organization. In the thesis the alternatives which may significantly influence the incomes of the contributory organization will be set by the decider. Since the founder determines the amount of the operating contribution which will be offered to the contributory organization, this data will not be worked with as a possible alternative. Furthermore the circumstances which may occur and which the organization must take into account will be determined.

IZAR - Uživatelská příručka
Ivanytska, Vitaliya ; Sekničková, Jana (advisor) ; Kuncová, Martina (referee)
The goal of this paper is to explore a newly designed software support for solving multi-criteria decision-making problems -- IZAR, as well as to create a comprehensible manual for a common user interested in decision-making theory. IZAR is currently in a development stage; nevertheless, its available versions are already being used by operations research students. The first two sections of this thesis are focused on a brief introduction of all the solutions methods used in the current version of IZAR, while the third section is a practical user guide that includes examples of the problems and a comparative summary of different ways of their solution reached by the means of IZAR.
The implementation of multicriteria evaluation methods into the IZAR software application
Vilánková, Veronika ; Kalčevová, Jana (advisor) ; Kuncová, Martina (referee)
This thesis describes the implementation methods for multi-criteria evaluation into the software application. IZAR is a software product that solves decision problems. IZAR solves single and multi-criteria, continuous and discrete decision problems. This thesis describes the extension of application IZAR. Several methods of multi-criteria evaluation were added into application. Supplemented methods were chosen so that the extended applications use the most basic methods from the decision theory. Introductory part of the thesis describes the basic methods that have been implemented into IZAR. There is summarized the theoretical basis of each method. The central part deals with the description of each method in terms of implementation. Attention is paid to the parts of the algorithms that have been modified or extended so that the methods are universal. Finally, the thesis shows the test examples in which functionality of methods was verified. There is described a group of complicated decision problems and control conditions that were created for these problems to find the right results.
SYMCA - SYstem for MultiCriteria Analysis (for Windows)
Valta, Oldřich ; Fábry, Jan (advisor) ; Kuncová, Martina (referee)
Thesis describes an analytic tool for supporting multicriteria descrete decision making called SYMCA (SYstem for MultiCriteria Analysis), which was developed in the Microsoft Excel enviroment. First part offers a theoretical background of Theory of Decision Making, presents basic methods and principles of Multicriteria Analysis. Second part describes solutions of particular multiciriterial problems in SYMCA software, which contains methods such as TOPSIS, ORESTE, ELECTRE I, ELECTRE III, PROMETHEE II, WSA, UFA and AHP.
Decision making and behavior in financial matters
Tereková, Kristýna ; Votava, Libor (advisor) ; Bytelová, Tereza (referee)
Work summarizes the current knowledge of classical economic theory of consumer and of behavioral economics. These two directions in which economic theory goes, practically verify on the students of the Faculty of Management of University of Economics in Prague. The work has also pointed out the rationality or irrationality in decision making and behavior of students in the financial field and possibly make some basic steps to amend any irrational behavior.
